A water slide at the Kenpark Waterpark in Surabaya, Indonesia, came apart on Saturday (7 May) as showcased in a horrific video circulating online.

Based on a report by Antara, 16 people were left injured after the water slide, which was at a height of 10 meters up, fell apart and collapsed. All the victims were taken to hospitals for intensive care.

In the video shared by NOODOU, people could be seen falling from the water slide onto the ground.

It is believed that the incident happened due to the slide’s frame that had worn out, though the water park management believes that it was because of capacity overload as maintenance work had been done on their attractions 9 months ago.

The Deputy Mayor of Surabaya, Armuji, has since ordered inspections of entertainment venues to prevent such incidents from happening again. He also reminded managements of amusement parks to be more responsible of their visitors’ safety.
