Instead of hitting the brakes, a senior citizen pressed the accelerator pedal which caused him to slam his Proton Perdana into a stall selling kuih. 
According to Astro Awani, the incident occurred at about 12.40pm yesterday, 17 December, at Pasar Binja, Kemaman.
The 84-year-old driver was heading to the market to buy some necessities. As he was making his way to the parking lot, he mistook the gas pedal for the breaks. This caused him to drive into the market itself and crashed into several stalls.

The incident caused two stalls to be severely damaged, causing traders to suffer losses.
Zaimah Mat Ali, one of the traders, said that at the time of the incident, he was at his residence in Kampung Mak Chili and only found out about the incident after being contacted by a friend.
He explained that despite the loss, he was thankful that there were no injuries involving the traders there.

Meanwhile, Kemaman District Police Chief, Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan confirmed the incident. He said the case would be investigated under Regulation 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959.
According to him, the driver suffered minor injuries and was sent to the nearest health clinic for further treatment.
