A dentist at Patong Hospital in Phuket, Thailand shared on Facebook that he attended to a patient who had a mouth full of rotten teeth.

The patient was a four-year-old boy who came in with a very serious oral condition on 26th November. All 20 of his baby teeth were rotten, with some of them broken and some of them with only the root embedded into his gums left.

According to Sin Chew Daily, the boy’s parents had placed him in a nursery and did not notice the boy’s oral health. Staff in the nursery also did not notice that his teeth were rotten.

The dentist said that the boy’s oral condition was such that doing teeth filling would be impossible, and because his tooth decay was so serious, the nerves below the teeth could get infected and harm the permanent teeth below.

So, the dentist had no choice but to extract all of them as leaving them to fall out on their own would be too risky.

Before having 20 of his rotten teeth removed, the child was given 14 anaesthetic injections and 18 stitches were sewn.

This means that the boy has at least eight years to wait before his permanent teeth start growing!

The dentist’s Facebook post went viral and garnered about 16,000 shares, 7.200 comments and 8,000 likes in just a few days.

This just shows how important it is for parents to pay attention to their children and to do regular health check-ups to ensure that they are in the best of health.

Hopefully, the parents of this boy will start paying more careful attention to the boy’s health and that he’ll be able to grow strong and healthy permanently teeth when the time comes.
