A 44-year-old man committed suicide allegedly due to depression after he had gone through a divorce.

According to Oriental Daily, the Chinese man jumped off the 18th floor of a hotel in Malacca and died instantly this morning (10th December).

Hotel staff discovered the body in a pool of blood at 7.41am and notified the hotel manager.

The deceased had checked into the hotel on 7th December. The doors and balcony windows of his hotel room were opened and a chair was found placed next to the window.

Deputy Director of the Malacca Central Police District confirmed the case when questioned.

He said that the deceased was believed to be suffering from depression due to the pressure of his divorce.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident happened at the back lane of the hotel. There were three CCTVs at the scene. The deceased was found to have fallen from the balcony on the 18th floor,” he said.

He said that the body of the deceased had been sent to Malacca Central Hospital for an autopsy.
