A 38-year-old man in Singapore was sentenced to 11 weeks in prison on Friday (December 6) after he pleaded guilty to the charge of intentionally causing serious injuries to others and a charge of assault.
According to a report by Shin Min Daily News, this comes after he had refused to take ‘no’ for an answer and pushed a 68-year-old woman from an HDB void deck, causing her to sustain facial injuries and a broken rib, which led her to be hospitalised for 16 days.
This was all due to the woman refusing to make out with the man.
The incident took place on January 3, 2024.
The 38-year-old man and the 68-year-old woman had apparently met at the rooftop garden of the HDB to have drinks and listen to music.
They both started making out but the woman stopped and refused to continue as she felt uncomfortable. Then, at around 4am, they headed down to the void deck of the HDB.
The man was unsatisfied and wanted to continue making out, but she refused. This angered the man and he started arguing with her while pushing her to the ground near the elevator entrance of the HDB.
Due to her injuries from the assault, she had to be taken to a hospital where medical reports showed she suffered external bruising to her head and cheek, and the 5th rib on her left side was also broken.
Seeing as the man does not have a prior criminal record and that he pleaded guilty early on, he was sentenced to 11 weeks in jail.
