A lot of Malaysians are probably really frustrated over the interstate-ban implemented yesterday by Senior Minister for Security, Ismail Sabri Yaakob. But we totally saw this coming right?

Just to be clear, the ban is imposed for all modes of transportation, including bicycles.

Three cyclists were detained and compounded by the police yesterday morning for crossing states without any authorisation.

The three men were cycling from Ampang, Kuala Lumpur to Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan yesterday morning when they were detained by police and members of RELA who were doing their rounds at the time.

Jelebu district police chief, Deputy Superintendent Maslan Udin Said said that the three men were detained at the entrance to Kampung Chennah around 10am and had no authorisation letters from any relevant authorities, as reported by Berita Harian.

He said “Subsequently, an RM1,000 compound was issued to the three men under Section 25 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.

“The compound payments should be made to the Jelebu District Health Office before June 3 to avoid prosecution if they fail to pay the compound.”

Maslan also reminded the public to not travel interstate for the duration of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) regardless of recreational cycling, motorbike convoys or by cars for that matter without police authorization.
