Open burning of waste or garbage is a common sight in Malaysia, but this incident highlights just how dangerous it can be, not only for the environment but also for the people.

The dense smoke made it difficult to see the road ahead

The footage captures locals continuing to use the road, even though the thick smoke from the open burning was practically covering the entire view, making it difficult to see anything ahead.

Despite the hazardous conditions, people kept navigating the road, and tragically, 2 motorcyclists ended up colliding head-on. Both riders were coming from opposite directions, leading to the unfortunate accident.

2 motorcyclists collided head-on

The footage reveals that despite the thick smoke billowing from the open burning, which obscured their view, locals were still determined to use the road.

Tragically, 2 motorcyclists collided head-on after coming from opposite directions, unable to see clearly ahead because of the dense smoke.

According to reports by Sinar Harian, the 2 motorcyclists including an elderly person passed away near RBI Jaya Canopy near Jalan Salor-Pasir Mas.

The victims tragically passed away at the scene

Kota Bharu District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud said the 2 victims, aged 28 and 79, passed away at about 5.40pm.

Preliminary investigations found that a 28-year-old male rider was heading from Wakaf Che Yeh towards Pendek when his motorcycle veered into the opposite lane, leading to a head-on collision with the elderly victim.

As a result of the collision, both victims suffered severe head injuries, sadly being pronounced dead right there at the scene.
