Usually, when we are about to apply for college we would take into consideration the courses offered, subjects and future career prospects.

However, these were all secondary for this guy, whose main reason of getting into college is to get a girlfriend.

What Excuse Me Say What Gif

Recently, an 18-year-old student from Eastern China submitted an application to China Women’s University in Beijing because “it will be easier to find a girlfriend” reported South China Morning Post. That’s a pretty solid idea, tbh!

The boy who had gone through the final round of screening at the university became the talk of the town when a video of him expressing his goal before the interview was posted and circulated on social media within weeks.

“But what influenced his decision?” you may be wondering!

Well, it may be because China has reportedly one of the world’s most unbalanced gender ratios. This is because the preference for boys lessened since China ended its one-child policy in 2015. However, according to official data, in some provinces, there are 130 young boys for every 100 girls. So, it’s estimated that tens of millions of men will be unable to find a wife in the coming decades. Wah, that’s a lot!

No wonder he wanted to enroll in an all-women college!

“This school has many girls – if [I] can study here there won’t be a problem finding a companion,” he said in a video that was posted online with the university’s permission.

He further added that the competition was tough, but luckily for him, he passed the interview stage of the application process. Good on him!

However, his family aren’t totally on board with his bizarre idea.

“My father told me to be careful…he doesn’t want his son to change too much from being in an environment surrounded by women,” he was quoted saying.

On the other hand, the university, which accepts only one male student per year, is quite welcoming of their male student.

“We have toilets for men in our buildings and in the library,” said a representative from the university.

Well, looks like our guy’s on a serious mission to save himself from a lifetime of solitude. So, let’s hope he gets a girlfriend while also focusing on his studies!
