Freak accidents are the worst because they show us how fragile the human body is. One little mess up and there could be deadly consequences.

Yesterday, a form one student died after being run over by a lorry at the Persiaran Hamzah Alang junction in Meru, Klang.

North Klang District Police Chief ACP Vijaya Rao said the incident is believed to have happened at around 3.30pm when the 13-year-old victim was riding a bicycle with his friend.

“The victim who was heading towards Meru from Jalan Durian rode a bicycle out of the junction towards Jalan Persiaran Hamzah Alang.”

Bicycle

“Meanwhile, the lorry driven by a man was coming from the direction of Kapar and did not have time to avoid, so he hit the victim.”

In the dashcam footage shared by a nearby motorist, the lorry can be seen moving forward, exposing the victim and his bicycle that has been run over by the lorry.

The bicycle was literally falling to pieces after going under the lorry’s wheels.

Pieces

“The victim, who is from Jalan Nenas, suffered severe head injuries before being pronounced dead at the scene of the incident,” he said in a statement today.

He added that the victim’s body was taken to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Klang Hospital for the post-mortem process to determine the cause of death.

The police are still investigating the incident and the lorry driver involved has been summoned. His statement has also been recorded.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

We hope this serves as a reminder to all to be extra careful while on the road. May the victim rest in peace.
