It’s the Hari Raya weekends and Muslims everywhere are gathering with their family and friends to have a joyous celebration, but a tragic accident happened to this little boy, Haiqal Hakim Zolpak this morning at around 12.00am.

According to Oriental Daily, the family was at home in Kampung Bintawa Hilir, Kuching when the catastrophe occurred. Apparently, one of the fireworks that was lighted up did not discharge so the 12-year-old boy ran over to investigate. Never try that!

That was when the disaster occurred, as the boy was looking at the supposedly dead firework, when suddenly it exploded right in his face. The force of the blast caused the boy to suffer heavy injuries to the head and he fell down. He was killed immediately by the explosion and it was reported that the force had even caused his right eyeball to fly out.

Chinapress reports that the boy was playing with the fireworks alone outside the house when his father heard a loud bang and rushed outside to the horrifying sight of his son dying. Neighbours immediately rushed to the distraught family’s aid and helped to carry the little boy in while waiting for the police to arrive.

The police have confirmed the case and have sent a special task force to investigate this incident. They are currently determining the type of fireworks used and where did the deceased obtain the fireworks from.

Such a terrible, tragic accident to happen on this supposedly happy celebration. WOB sends our deepest condolences to the family of the poor boy. RIP.
