It was supposed to be a happy and joyous celebration as families and friends gathered at the Pandamaran Sports Complex Port Klang yesterday night to ring in the new year.

At 12am last night, the audience waited with bated breath for a spectacular fireworks show to usher in year 2017.

However, things turned awry when the event started. Moments after the show began, several fireworks failed to explode in the air, instead they flew to the ground and injured some of the revellers in the crowd.
