Johor regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has taken to His Highness’s X page to announce that a group of people, allegedly consisting of 2 foreign tourists and a local man, have been arrested after they attended the Pan Asia Hash 2024 (an international fun run event) while dressed inappropriately.

He wrote, “Action has been taken and the culprits have been arrested. Zero tolerance in Johor.”

This comes after images and videos from the event had gone viral due to the foreign tourists’ attire.

His Highness also shared a press statement by the Johor Menteri Besar, Dato’ Onn Hafiz Bin Ghazi, stating that the authorities have spoken to the organisers of the event who said that the participants’ decision to dress inappropriately was out of their control.

Dato’ Onn Hafiz added that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) were told to investigate this matter as their attire undermines the harmony and sovereignty of Islam, and brings down the image of the state of Johor.
