The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has confirmed that they received 12 police reports on UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, in regards to his speech during the President’s Special Briefing at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Center (WTCKL) recently.

According to a report by Utusan, the Head of Corporate Communications for the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Assistant Commissioner Skandaguru Anandan shared that the case is being handled by the Classified Criminal Investigation Unit (USJT) D5, Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ), Bukit Aman.

“So far, a total of 12 police reports have been received and the investigation is still ongoing.”

“The investigation is being conduced in accordance with Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he said.

The reason for the reports are that, in his speech during the UMNO event, Zahid Hamidi had allegedly condemned, insulted and slandered the National Judiciary, the Attorney General’s Department, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong following the Federal Court’s decision in the case of disgraced former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

This happened during the UMNO President’s Special Briefing at WTCKL, which was attended by thousands of UMNO supporters.

Among the aim of the briefing was to show the solidarity of UMNO members to the former party President, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who was sentenced to 12 years in prison after being found guilty in the case of misappropriation of funds from SRC International Sdn. Bhd.
