The Cannes Gold Lion Award is an annual event that is held in Cannes, France. The event aims to commemorate and award top of the line advertisements from all parts of the world.

According to Cannes Lions, the event “has been bringing the creative communications industry together every year at its one-of-a-kind event in Cannes to learn, network and celebrate.”

Best Ads On TV mentions that the impactful PSA video was directed by Nadiah Hamzah and is titled “Voice Of The Children: Bystander”. The video is 2 minutes and 46 seconds long, and there were additional two directors, Syed Madnuh and Emir Ezwan.

According to Campaign Brief Asia, Voice Of The Children: Bystander won the Single Bronze award. The video addressed a very concerning problem, which was bullying.

The video shows three teens of various races and genders as victims of bullying. Then, they address the viewers and talk about how sharing or liking videos of this kind are useless.

The video was created for Voice of Children, a non-governmental organisation and in association with the renowned advertising agency, Leo Burnett Malaysia.

Nadiah Hamzah shared her thoughts about the win on Twitter.

She shared in her tweet that she hopes Malaysians will watch her next film when it’s released on 26th September 2019.

Based on her profile on Wayangworks, Nadiah Hamzah was born and bred in Penang. She graduated from Tisch School of the Arts, New York University, with an MFA (Film & TV). She was even under the tutelage of some famous people like Spike Lee. Impressive!

Kudos to Nadiah Hamzah and the brilliant team that made this PSA video a world-class winner! They definitely did Malaysia proud and highlighted an important issue that we all need to take a deeper look at.
