As we all know, the pandemic has actually affected everything from schooling schedules to career planning for fresh graduates. The majority of them are experiencing panic attacks as they are currently facing a lot of uncertainty when it comes to finding jobs to sustain their day-to-day living expenses.

On 18 February, Zulieda binti Azni, who is a fresh graduate published on Twitter about how she is earning a living by selling nasi lemak goreng by the roadside while waiting for her convocation ceremony.

Zulieda, one of the top students from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) who is pursuing a degree under the Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities, added that she is unsure if she will be able to still stand on stage to receive her degree certificate due to the pandemic restrictions.

“I’m waiting for my convo day. Not sure if I’ll get to stand on that stage. Today, I decided to sell nasi lemak goreng by the roadside. I wear a convocation cap because I’m getting out of my comfort zone!

Who says that graduates are choosy about jobs?” she writes.

Instead of just sitting and doing nothing at home, Zulieda has fully utilised her time while waiting for her convocation ceremony. She set up a nasi lemak business called Warung Pokok (you can find this on Waze), which is located at Jalan Metro Perdana Barat 13, opposite the Pekan Kepong People’s Housing Project (PPR).

Warung Pokok’s menu and delivery area list can be found in her tweet as well. As you can see from the menu, there is plenty of nasi lemak sides you can pick from and the prices are very reasonable and affordable. She also provides delivery to the seven areas as stated with only an RM4 delivery charge!

Zulieda’s tweet has since attracted many netizens who have been showing support and congratulating her for her productivity.

We hope that she will be able to motivate fellow fresh graduates like her that they can also try and work something out if they are feeling lost in their career pathways now.

If you wish to support Zulieda’s business while also grabbing some delicious nasi lemak, feel free to drop by or message Warung Pokok on Instagram for more information!
