The fatal stabbing incident on 14 October (Tuesday) at SMK Bandar Utama Damansara 4 shocked the nation, and many are still grieving the loss of Yap Shing Xuen.

The principal of the school, in a recent meeting with students’ parents, stated that the school will take full responsibility for the incident.

She also bowed and apologised to the parents.

In a video currently circulating on social media, the principal can be heard sobbing during the teacher-parent conference, expressing her deep regret over the tragedy.

“On behalf of the school, I apologise to everyone for this matter. No one wanted this tragedy to happen, but it happened. We will take full responsibility.”

As long as the students are safe

The principal assured that the school will seriously consider any suggestions from parents before implementing them, prioritising the comfort and safety of the students.

“As long as our children can learn in a safe environment, we will do our best.”

She also acknowledged that managing a school with 1,917 students is no easy task. Despite the challenges, she assured everyone that the school is doing its utmost to ensure campus safety.

In a brief statement last night, the school’s management, via a Facebook post, apologised for the pain and distress caused by the incident.

“Words cannot express how deeply shattered we are by this tragic incident. We extend our heartfelt apologies to the YSX family and to all our pupils.”
