Everywhere we go, we see people posting about the RM95 million jackpot that has been won by a person in Penang.

It is understandable that the winners would not want to reveal their identities but they have talked about the moment they discovered that they have won the largest jackpot in Malaysian history.

There were 2 winners, 1 from Selangor who took a small chunk of RM2.7 million and 1 from Penang who won RM95,036,321.25, reported Oriental Daily and The Sun Daily.

The Penangite winner is a 41-year-old machinery supplier who only started buying the jackpot tickets when it had reached RM70 million.

“Because of the social media hype, all of my friends were talking about it, so I thought I should also try my luck.”

At first, he bought the numbers according to the ages and birthdates of his family members. After a few times, he mixed in some other numbers.

“My set of lucky numbers – 5, 12, 20, 22, 29 & 41 was what I had bet on for the last few draws before winning.”

After checking the results on the draw date, the man and his wife were both in disbelief, so much that they needed to slap each other to make sure that it was not a dream. Right now, he is still shocked that he is a multi-millionaire.

As for how he wants to use his newfound wealth, he explained that he will be using it to pay off debts and donate some to charity. He’ll plan for how to use the rest of the money at a later time.

Before this RM97 million jackpot, the largest jackpot in the nation was won by yet another Penang man in September 2017.

It seems like there may be something up in Penang, is it the water there? Or generally the Fengshui there is better?

Well, we may never know but the next time the jackpot accumulates more money, we’re going to Penang to buy the jackpot tickets!
