Our parents brought us to existence and they gave us food, education, shelter and gave in to our whims.

Recently, a social experiment has gone viral on the Malaysian side on social media platforms.

This social experiment involves an elderly uncle who has difficulty reading and he would go up to people to ask them what the letter that his son had left was about.

The letter goes like this,

“I’m sorry dad, I can’t take care of you anymore.”

In the video, we can see that the people were hesitant to break the news to him as they got a little emotional.

A majority of them got sad and shed some tears while others got angry. One delivery rider said,

“He left you here? I have no father and I don’t know how he was able to just leave you here.”

After they got the initial reaction from the elderly uncle, most of them would try to ask him if he had money or if they can help to get him home.

Even when he declined them multiple times, they would try to give him some money or offer to drive him to his home.

One woman who was working as a cashier broke into tears and tried to give him a large sum of cash and some food.

This act of kindness was felt by the actor playing the role of the abandoned uncle and even he started crying.

In the end, the producer of the channel had to step in to return the cash and explain the situation.

Many Malaysians in the comments have shared that they have seen this happening around them.

“A very touching social experiment, I cried even though it is an act. These things (abandoning a parent) actually do happen, so please appreciate your parents while they are still here. Congratulations to the Aku Peduli team.”

Uncle Social Experiement 2

“Even though this is a social experiment and it’s local, there are still lots of good people here. I hope that those people will do well in life. Great job to the Aku Peduli team, hopefully, there will be more content like this.”

Some netizens brought up the importance of caring for an elderly parent.

Well, as this commenter said, life is short, and when you’re in your prime, your parents are already old. So, do take care of them and pamper them as much as you can.
