For many of us, the local mamak is where memories are made and the spot for all the late night chats and meet ups. So for a lot of us, we have become regulars of certain mamaks to the point where the workers have recognised us and have even memorised our orders.

Recently, a TikTok user took the platform to share how she and her family had bought a cake for the belated birthday of their regular mamak waiter which also doubled as his farewell celebration as he was due to leave Malaysia to return to his hometown in India.

As Amelia and her family presented the worker with the cake, they clapped along and cheered for him.

The mamak worker whose name is Sankar could be seen smiling from ear to ear and even hugged one of Amelia’s family members for their kind gesture.

In an interview with WORLD OF BUZZ, Amelia said that the mamak that they frequented is Fariz Maju in Kelana Jaya. She also said that Sankar has been serving her and her family for the past 3-4 years.

A heartwarming moment

The video has since gone viral and captured the attention of plenty of netizens who expressed their delight and joy after seeing Sankar’s priceless expression.

“This is what we should strive for as Malaysians. Treating those who deserve it just like our family by showing love and respect.”

“He must remember this moment for life,” said a user.

A couple of netizens said that the video had made them so happy that they ended up tearing up!

“Sankar got the cake and he just smiled, but I’m the one that’s crying for some reason.”

Another commented, “I’m not sure if he’s Sankar or I am because I’m the one that’s crying.
