A Malaysian driver faced the unluckiest of circumstances when going through a toll booth after a motorcyclist went past the gate right after the individual paid the toll. As the sensor detected that a vehicle has passed the toll, the gate closes, thus forcing the driver to pay the toll twice.

A dashcam recording of the incident has since gone viral on the r/IdiotsInCars subreddit with over 10,000 upvotes as of the time of writing. While the location of the incident were not mentioned by the original poster, the time stamp of the dashcam video shows that it happened two days ago on 30 December 2021 at 5.56pm.

In the video, the driver, most probably driving a lorry due to the wide windshield and high sitting position, can be seen entering the most left lane and paying for toll by scanning a Touch’nGo card. Suddenly, right after the driver made payment, a motorcyclist can be seen passing the vehicle from the left and riding through the gate.

The sensor of the toll gate then detected a vehicle has passed by and immediately closes, leaving the driver dumbfounded and cursing their luck. You can watch the whole video here:

In case you didn’t know, motorcyclists are generally exempted from paying for toll in Malaysia and has to go through the gaps beside a toll gate should the highway has no specific lane for motorcyclists.

What do you guys think of the whole incident? What would you do if you were in the driver’s position? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
