Malaysians have been warned after a viral video showing a woman allegedly trying to extort money at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has been circulating online.

In the video shared via a Facebook page, the woman, reportedly a scammer from China, was seen dressed neatly before being confronted by a member of the public and later caught on camera running away.

The member of the public decided to take matters into his own hands

In another video, the man behind the camera, who caught the woman in the act, explained how he confronted her after seeing her trying to scam others.

“As soon as I went out to catch a ride, I ran into these people. I saw her trying to scam others for money. I couldn’t stand it, so I followed her and started filming,” he said.

He added that the woman had approached the victim and asked,

“Can you speak Chinese? I came here with a friend for business, but we got separated. I don’t have any money on me. Can you lend me a few ringgit for transport?”

A scammer from China allegedly approached a man at KLIA to extort money

Meanwhile, according to an X page, TGTM_Official claimed that these individuals often approach people with stories about needing money for food.

They also alleged that the scammers would prowl around the exit areas in Kuala Lumpur, approaching people with stories about losing money at Genting Casino and not having eaten for days.

“Scammers from China are now showing up in airports. These women usually dress well to lower people’s guard.

“They tell sob stories about running out of money at Genting Casino and not having eaten for days. Once they gain the victim’s trust, they promise to send money back if the victim helps them,” the post read.
