According to an article by Strait Times, yesterday (16th April), Singapore recorded 728 cases in just one day. For the past two weeks including yesterday, foreign workers living in dormitories have been the main cause of the increase. Out of the 728 increase, 654 patients were foreign workers. The total number of people who are linked to the dormitories and have tested positive for Covid-19 is 2,689 (that is every 3 in 5 patients!).

The country received five new clusters linked to dormitories, including two large purpose-built dormitories, Westlite Mandai and The Leo dormitory in Kaki Bukit. The other three new clusters are linked to factory converted dormitories: SJ Dormitory (Woodlands), 17 Sungei Kadut Street 4 and Grandwork Building (Sungei Kadut).

19% of all the cases are unlinked and contact tracing for those cases and being underway. The country has reported no imported cases for a week now and stands at a total of 4,427 Covid-19 cases nation-wide. Singapore also has 683 patients who have been fully recovered and 10 deaths thus far.
