It’s no secret that properties and the lifestyle in general in Kuala Lumpur is more expensive as compared to other places around the country.

But, you would think that working in the country’s capital for at least 10 years would help, right? Wrong.

A Malaysian took to the Emosi Twitter page to share their thoughts on moving back to their hometown for good after working in Kuala Lumpur for 10 years and still being unable to afford a house here.

Kl 4

They wrote, “I have long moved to Kuala Lumpur since I graduated in 2014 until now. Next year would mark my 10th year of searching for a livelihood in KL. I still cannot afford to buy a house, my car is still on its loan, my salary can be considered not big but not small, I have to endure traffic jams everyday.”

“Sometimes I think, for what am I working in KL for so long?”

With that, they’ve been considering moving back to their hometown where, even with a small salary, they would be able to live comfortably.

Kl 5

“I feel like, with a salary of RM2,000, staying in my hometown I can be comfortable. Should I go back to my hometown and work a simple job? Help me, I’m in a dilemma.”

At the end of the day, people believe the person should follow their heart, which in this case is to balik kampung

Kl 1

“You’re still young. Do what you like. After all, mental health is more important.”

Kl 2

“Pick what calms your heart.”

Kl 3

“If living in your hometown can make you happy, what’s wrong with that. Your mental health will be taken care of.”

What do you think the person should do? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
