“May he rest in peace”

UCSI has since taken to its Facebook page to confirm the passing of Sithu Hpone Maw.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Sithu Hpone Maw, a valued member of our university community. He will be fondly remembered for his spirit, dedication, and the joy he brought to those around him,” the post read.

He was pursuing a degree in architecture

Earlier, Cheras police reported receiving a missing persons report concerning a foreign student from the said university.

The report was filed by a university management representative after attempts to contact Sithu were unsuccessful. He was last seen at his rented residence at Ankasa Condo, Taman Connaught, Cheras.

It is understood that Sithu, who was from Myanmar, was a second-year student pursuing a degree in architecture at UCSI.

The student reportedly fell from the 26th floor

According to Cheras Deputy District Police Chief, Superintendent Ridzuan Khalid, CCTV footage confirmed that the student was believed to have fallen from the 26th floor of a condominium, as reported by Berita Harian.

“A post-mortem conducted at the Forensic Department of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) found the cause of death to be a fall from a high place,” he said in a statement today.

The case has been classified as sudden death.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sithu Hpone Maw’s friends and family during this difficult time.
