What is Chinese New Year without the overly happy songs that sometimes sound very similar to each other?

Dong Dong Qiang is one of those CNY songs that most people know of and a Malaysian studio named MVM Production has remade it with a twist for CNY 2022!

Said twist is that the song is entirely in Malay! We’re not gonna lie, we were skeptical at first but the song was stuck in our head after we played it 2 times. You can listen and watch it here:

The original melody was retained and it has been refreshed with tasteful lyrics that speak of the spirit of unity. Some noteworthy lines include:

“Today is celebration day, different races but we’re still together.”

“New year with our old friends, together we celebrate.”

“On the outside we’re different but our hearts are still the same.”

The MV for this was also done in such a beautiful way where all of the cast were dressed respectfully in kebayas, baju kurung, baju melayu and some in cheongsam and samfu of auspicious colours.

It is not only us who love this MV but netizens are of the same opinion!

Youtube Comments Cny Song In Malay

We definitely agree that this is much better than your typical CNY MV. Why? Because it talks of the true essence of Malaysia which is unity and harmony, that’s why!
