A local celebrity preacher was arrested on 26 November after a 23-year-old girl came forward with her confession on social media claiming that the 25-year-old preacher met her on 11 September to discuss the victim’s depression and to cure it using Islamic medical methods.
Berita Harian reported that the victim was brought to his studio where she was raped and even warned by the preacher to not speak a word about this. Following this, many other victims came forward with their story claiming to have been raped by the same preacher. Bukit Aman JSJ Director said in a press conference that most of his victims were students including teachers aged between 22 to 26 years old. All the victims followed the suspect on his Instagram and were his fans.
Netizens commented on this issue mostly in anger directed towards the suspect who cheated the girls. However, one netizen said that since this preacher is good-looking, the girls probably liked being raped by him.
“Ustaz Madi in the film Nur was not handsome so no one liked it when they were raped by him. However, this preacher is handsome, so girls liked getting raped by him.
You have to remember that victims don’t like handsome rapists that are not loyal!”
To no one’s surprise, this comment angered a lot of netizens who did not stand for the rape apologist. Some even called out the commenter’s university and demanded actions be taken.
“Rape is a serious crime and no one is willing to get raped in this world. Looks is not the main issue for us to focus on problems like this.”
It’s still unclear whether the statement was intended as a joke or if the commenter truly believes this. World of Buzz has reached out to the commenter for his opinion based on the statement but we have yet to receive a response.
