About a month ago, a young Bangladeshi boy had arrived in Malaysia inside a shipping container after he was accidentally locked inside of it for 6 days while he was playing around with his friends.

Considering the amount of time the boy was locked inside the container with no food or water, he had arrived in a severely weakened state and clearly needed help.

Thankfully, the boy has recovered and has been sent home to be reunited with his loved ones! Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution took to his Twitter account to share the good news.

He wrote, “Remember the child from Bangladesh who was found in a container in Port Klang? His name is Md Ratul Islam Fahim, I just call him Fahim. For 6 days Fahim was trapped in the container that departed from the port of Bangladesh without food or drinks, it was a miracle Fahim could be saved.”

“After Fahim received treatment at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Dr. Hartini from the Chow Kit Foundation contacted my office requesting to place Fahim under the care and observation of the Care Center managed by the Chow Kit Foundation, and the Ministry of Home Affairs gave the permission.”

After ensuring the young boy was well enough to travel, the Ministry of Home Affairs then contacted the necessary parties to help get Fahim home to his family.

“The next step is for the Ministry to contact the High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Malaysia for documentation matters for Fahim’s repatriation process,”

“Alhamdulillah, today (February 21 – Tuesday) Fahim returned to his family. Thank you, Department of Immigration, TYT Md. Golam Sarwar (Bangladesh High Commissioner in Malaysia), Dr. Hartini from the Chow Kit Foundation and everyone who helped launch this affair. Goodbye, Fahim,” he added.

We’re so happy that the boy is finally reunited with his family, they must have been so worried for him!
