Despite the call for him to step down as Prime Minister, and an upcoming rally for protestors to gather and voice out against him, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim is NOT calling for the rally to stop.

PMX has instructed the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) to ensure the smooth running of the rally, and the safety of the participants without any form of intimidation.

According to the Senior Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, Tunku Nashrul Tunku Abaidah, the directive reflects the MADANI Government’s commitment to upholding the principles of democracy and the supremacy of the Constitution, including guaranteeing freedom of expression for all parties, including those who disagree with the government.

He added that the MADANI Government still adheres to the principle that opposition voices and peaceful demonstrations are healthy and mature democratic practices, as long as they do not violate the law and do not affect public order.

“Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, this space has not only been opened widely but is also respected.”

“Any form of disagreement with the government, including through public demonstrations, will not be blindly suppressed,” Tunku Nashrul said in a press conference yesterday evening (July 25).

In the meantime, PMX also had a reminder to the participants of the ‘Turun Anwar’ rally.

According to Tunku Nashrul, the Prime Minister also called on all people to continue to uphold the values of democracy by using common sense, a mature spirit, and sincerity in expressing differences of opinion.

“The Madani government stands firm not by silencing criticism, but by fostering a space of tolerance with compassion and steadfastness.”

“Let us continue to uphold democracy with common sense, a mature spirit and a responsible attitude.”

He said that the right to speak, including from those who oppose the Government, is an important element in a free and just country.

The ‘Turun Anwar’ rally is scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday, July 26) at Dataran Merdeka, with over 2,000 officers from PDRM to be deployed at the scene to ensure the smooth running of the event.
