A Thai woman in her 30s broke her right leg after jumping from the first floor of a shophouse, which was being used as a prostitution centre, in Sungai Petani, Kedah, at about 2:30pm on Sunday (June 8).

The woman, who had tried to escape from the authorities during a crime prevention operation, was sent to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH) by ambulance for treatment.

Not the first time the premise was raided

According to a report by Kosmo, 2 other women who were also suspected of offering sexual services were arrested and taken to the Kuala Muda District Police Headquarters for further investigations, while 3 Bangladeshi men, believed to be customers of the brothel, were also detained.

The Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan, shared that the premise had been raided before, for housing women who offered sexual services to customers who were mainly foreign men.

“Based on interviews with the foreign male customers, they were charged between RM100 and RM150 to subscribe to prostitutes. Police also seized several condoms, tubes of lubricant and some cash,” he added.
