The female teacher, Lo Kwan Fong, who was found dead in her home in Bandar Selesa Jaya, Johor, is believed to have been suffering from depression due to debt problems with loan sharks.

According to a report by Sinar Harian, the Johor Education, Information and Communications Exco, Aznan Tamin, shared this while explaining that the information about her was obtained from the Johor State Education Department (JPNJ).

“The teacher claimed to have been suffering from depression, but there were no supporting documents from a hospital and no medical history. The main problem in this case is a serious debt burden, including debts to loan sharks,” he said.

Based on investigations carried out with information obtained from the school she worked at as well as her nearest neighbours, the deceased was an only child who was single and lived alone. She had lost both her parents in May 2010.

This case has been classified as a sudden death, and there are no criminal elements detected.

She hadn’t shown up at work for nine months

Prior to this, it was reported that a female teacher, who had not shown up for work for 9 months, was found dead in her home after a neighbour had made a police report about a foul smell coming from her house.

It is believed that she died within the month, though her cause of death was ultimately categorised as unascertained due to advanced decomposition.
