If you’ve traveled to another country before, you’d know that it’s not cheap! The biggest expenses are probably flight tickets and accommodation, but even day to day costs for food and transport can be high depending on the cost of living of the country you’re visiting.

South Korea has been a super popular travel destination amongst Malaysians for years and the common perception is that traveling there is expensive.

However, a Korean TikTok content creator, @Tara_choi_, recently shared how you can enjoy Korean food with just RM10 (3000 Won) a day! One dish like bibimbap already costs around RM25 (6000 Won) so how did she do it?!

3 Meals A Day For RM10

For breakfast, Tara had two pieces of freshly made bungeoppang, a fish-shaped pastry usually filled with red bean paste or custard cream.

The two palm-sized pieces of bungeoppang cost Tara RM3.40 (1000 Won), which is fair because breakfast items in Malaysia cost about the same.

Moving on to lunch, Tara went to a tteokbokki stall where she ordered a cup of the sweet and spicy chewy rice cakes.

This tteokbokki came with some fish cakes and also cost RM3.4O (1000 Won)!

Finally, the last meal of the day was a bowl of instant ramen. For RM3.40 (1000 Won), Tara was able to slurp down a piping hot bowl of beef-flavoured instant ramen at a convenience store, a warm escape from the winter chill outside.

Can enjoy, but not too much loh

In total, Tara was able to spend just RM10.20 (3000 Won) for all 3 meals of the day. Breakfast and lunch were street food and dinner was from a convenience store.

However, knowing Malaysians appetite and love for food, these foods Tara recommended are definitely not meal material! Some of us can probably have everything Tara had as a snack and still have a full meal in one sitting.

Regardless, Tara’s video is still helpful because now we can gauge how much street foods and convenience store foods cost in South Korea. And if you’re traveling on a budget, you can rest assured that you can definitely survive with just spending RM10 on food per day.
