In a live conference today, 16 December, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced that all those who have taken the Sinovac vaccine have to get a 3rd shot by February 2022, if not they will be deemed as not fully vaccinated.

This is also applicable to all those aged 60 and above. For those 60 & above, regardless of the vaccine brand, you must get your booster by Feb 2022 in order to still maintain your fully vaccinated status.

“If they do not get booster doses after February 2022, vaccination status will be deemed not fully vaccinated. They will not be eligible for the facilities provided to those who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.”

He explained that the move was in line with the proposal by World Health Organisation (WHO).

He added the Drug Control Authority has approved the Comirnaty vaccine produced by Pfizer-BioNTech, CoronaVac vaccine produced by Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccine for use as a booster dose.

“Further to that, the Technical Working Committee has recommended a booster dose given to all residents aged 18 years and above.”
