A man recently shared his unpleasant first date experience, where the woman he met became noticeably less friendly after learning how he commuted to the date.

In a Threads post, the man said he had gone on a first date somewhere in KLCC last month with a woman in her 40s who has a stable career. At first, the atmosphere during their meal and conversation was harmonious. However, things changed after they left the restaurant and the woman asked where he had parked his car.

The man responded truthfully:

“I didn’t drive. I took an e-hailing ride because my condo is near KLCC.”

He noticed that his answer immediately shifted the woman’s demeanour, her facial expression and overall vibe changed.

“When she heard I came by e-hailing, she instantly became cold. We continued messaging afterward, but she mocked me during the chat, hinting, ‘It’s pointless to just rely on your looks, you need money nowadays.’”

The man eventually blocked her number and cut off contact, lamenting, “Do I have to bring bank statements to a date now?”

Previously, another Malaysian man shared that he had to spend extra money after his date unexpectedly brought her family along “to avoid maksiat,” and he ended up treating them to dinner and shopping.
