The war between taxi and Grab/Uber drivers has been stewing for quite some time, and it’s still going on even until today.

Just recently, a man who presumably works as a GrabCar or Uber driver was about to do a pick-up at the Penang International Airport when he was stopped by an extremely rude airport taxi driver.

In the one-minute video, the angry taxi driver even blatantly placed his foot on the passenger seat while shouting at the victim. Think your grandfather’s car ah?

The victim was heard saying:

“Look at what he is doing to my car, and he wanted to snatch my handphone away. He refused to let us pick passengers up at the airport and wanted to fight with me.”

When the victim moved his smartphone closer to get a clearer shot of the hooligan’s face, the taxi driver moved away and shamelessly said,

“Of course I don’t dare to show my face!”

When the victim couldn’t take it anymore, he got out of his car. It appears that there were many onlookers standing by the side taking videos but no one reached out to break the argument. *Sigh*

The thuggish taxi driver then approached the victim and tried to snatch his phone. A brief scuffle broke out between them.

The victim said to the onlookers,

“You guys can be the witness of this incident, he is trying to snatch my handphone. It’s okay, I will leave since they (taxi drivers) don’t let us do pick-up here.”

Since when did taxi drivers own Penang International Airport again?

In the background, the taxi driver can be heard challenging the victim to go to a police station to make a report.

After this footage went viral on Facebook, netizens were disgusted by the lawless taxi drivers.

“Their reputation has already gone down the drain, if they continue to behave like uncivilised people, it’s only a matter of time before they go out of job,” a netizen said.

“A GrabCar driver once dropped me off several metres away from the entrance of Taman Bahagia LRT station, because she said taxi drivers would intimidate GrabCar drivers at these locations,” another netizen commented.

Taxi drivers should really stop with their intimidating behaviour as it doesn’t help their already scarred reputation. I pity the honest and polite taxi drivers who get a bad rep because of these black sheep.

Here’s the video of the scuffle between them.
