The Rumah Bonda trial involving the alleged abuse by founder Siti Bainun Ahd Razali on Bella, a 13-year-old girl with Down Syndrome was recently held.

A number of shocking revelations were discovered following the trial resulting in Malaysians calling for Bella to get the justice she deserves and a number of notable figures announcing their support for Bella.

However, despite her public statement of support, the Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun found herself getting slammed by netizens who were unhappy that she kept her silence for so long despite the case blowing up last year.

Rina recently took to her social media pages to announce that her ministry will be involved in any developments in Bella’s case and that they were ready to face Johor Crown Prince Tunku Mahkota Johor (TMJ), HRH Major General Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim.

“Myself and the entire ministry are ready to face TMJ and Che Puan Besar to present the status of Bella’s case and the actions that the ministry has taken to help with the case,” she wrote.

She went on to praise TMJ and his wife, YM Che Puan Khaleeda for their support and focus in regards to Bella’s case.

“For the entire Keluarga Malaysia, in this glorious month of Ramadan, let us continue to pray that Bella’s abuse is simplified and truth and justice can be proven at the end of the trial.”

Netizens displeased

Despite her message of support, plenty of netizens were displeased that it took her this long to finally look into the case. Some even claimed that she is only getting involved after TMJ called her out on it.

“You get mentioned and now you’re panicking. Before this you didn’t care as you went to the bazar and made bubur lambuk,” said a user.

“You just don’t care until you’ve been called out right?”

It took the royalty to call you before you appeared. Getting called out because you’re not performing,” added the user.

One user questioned, “Where were you before TMJ’s post?”

Another user pointed out that the public have been asking her ministry about Bella’s case since July of last year.

“You guys said you couldn’t do anything because you had to wait for the police investigation. Then silence till now,” they added.

Meanwhile, another user shared a news clip of Rina visiting Bella at the hospital. “Bella doesn’t seem ready to meet outsiders yet you come in bringing reporters, videographers, photographers and more… of course she’s going to be scared.”

Whatever the case, we hope that Bella gets the justice she finally deserves.
