Darsa Fried Chicken (DFC) has closed the doors of its Bangi outlet, and the brand’s founder has broken his silence.

Jundullah Az-Zuhdi, founder and former CEO of DFC, clarified that the closure of the Bangi outlet was not related to racial issues, stressing that the business was never founded on racial sentiment, despite the controversy surrounding the “Type C” remark made by a social media administrator in 2024.

“The reality is far more complex and far more heartbreaking, but it is no longer my concern”

Jundullah cleared the air after he noticed that racial narratives were being linked to the closure of DFC in Bangi, saying that he is strongly against using racial sentiment as the foundation of the business. It not only contradicts his principles as a Muslim and a Malaysian, but also someone who has friends of all races.

“I have Chinese and Indian friends who have consistently supported me and DFC, including during the height of that controversy. They understand that the mistake of an individual under supervision does not represent the stance of the organisation as a whole.”

In his statement shared on Facebook, Jundullah also apologised once again to those who are still aggrieved by the “Type C” controversy, highlighting that following DFC’s initial apology, the mistake has not been repeated.

Jundullah also revealed that he has had no authority or role in determining the direction of the company since July 2025.

He added that history has shown that most companies fail or shut down not solely because of racial or religious issues, but also due to management failures, financial problems, internal conflicts, and operational pressures.

“Therefore, let us move forward with facts, maturity, and fairness, and think about how the nation’s economy and the ummah can be developed more effectively for the next generation.”

What do you think of this? To those who have tried DFC, do let us know what you think of the fast-food chain.
