Smoke emitted from inside the bag

In the video, Oriental Kopi staff quickly responded by using a fire extinguisher to contain the smoke before the bag was opened for inspection.

Upon checking the contents, those at the scene discovered that the power bank had malfunctioned and was the source of the smoke. A man was later seen pouring water over the device after it was removed from the bag.

No injuries or damages to the mall were reported

In a statement, the management of gateway@klia2 described the incident as an isolated case and confirmed that it was brought under control without any injuries or damage to the premises.

“The situation was promptly brought under control, and the necessary safety measures were taken.

“No injuries or damage to the mall premises were reported, and normal operations continued without significant disruption,” the statement read.

Following the incident, the public was reminded to handle and store power banks responsibly, follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions, and discontinue use of any device that shows signs of damage, swelling, or overheating.
