The government has decided that cash assistance of RM500 will be channelled to workers who have lost their income based on EPF or SOCSO data in 2021. This move is expected to benefit up to one million people in Malaysia.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said this in a live press conference today (28 June) after announcing that a total of RM10 billion will be given to three groups of people.

“With these three cash grants, for each month starting June until December this year, those in need will get appropriate assistance. I hope this cash aid can help my brothers and sisters to continue to survive in the months to come,” he said.

“I am aware that the lives of many have been affected severely as a result of more than a year of war with the Covid-19 pandemic.”

“Though millions of Malaysians have benefited from cash assistance from the Government since March 2020 and many more have received government assistance in various forms, I understand financial aid needs to be enhanced as long as this crisis continues.”
