Recently, VVIP culture was once again questioned and condemned after videos showcased a politician’s son with traffic police escorts to avoid the traffic jams in Penang.

The man with the traffic police escorts is Baling MP, Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim’s son.

Based on a report by Harian Metro, PDRM have since launched a detailed investigation into the matter, as shared by Penang police chief, Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain.

“On Saturday (7 May) at about 8.36pm, a 20-second viral video was detected, uploaded by the owner of the anwarazeez account and the recording showed a man (a regular citizen) driving a vehicle while accompanied by 2 traffic policemen on PDRM motorcycles,”

“The Penang Contingent has confirmed the incident that took place in Jalan Bukit Gambir and the police will not compromise with any officer who committed the misconduct,” he said.

Muar MP and MUDA President, Syed Saddiq, has since shared his 2 cents on the matter in a Facebook post.

“We expect political institutions to upgrade the lives of the people – not to make them VVIPs,”

“Politicians draft policies, but they do not believe in their own policies. What the people feel, they do not want to feel. The people struggle, they close their eyes. The people are stuck enduring traffic, they conveniently have people escorting them. Children, family members, relatives of political VVIPs are more and more convenienced while the people are struggling more and more as the days go by,” he shared.
