If you need to throw away any bulk waste after Raya’s spring cleaning, you can save the hassle of hiring a lorry for that because Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) will do it for FREE. Yep, you read that right!

All you have to do is call them up and MBPJ will send a lorry to pick your waste items like furniture, mattresses and electrical appliances at no cost at all, reported The Star.

They are just one call away!

According to Mayor Datuk Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain, this service is an effort to reduce illegal dumping in the PJ city. He was quoted as saying,

“Collection of bulk waste will be done on a specific date for each location.”

So, if you live in the areas mentioned below and need their services, don’t forget to call them up on these specific dates;

However, this service only applies to those residing in Petaling Jaya, so non-PJ residents are not entitled to this special service. Awh, bummer!

On a side note, this isn’t the first time MBPJ is providing this service (it’s the third time actually!) because they had successfully helped PJ citizens throw away all unwanted household items in a proper way since 2016.

On the other hand, Petaling Jaya Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Department director Lee Lih Shyan commented that they wanted to make sure less bulk items end up at the dumping ground by urging everyone to utilise this effort. Sounds good!

Therefore, if you’re a PJ citizen thinking of throwing away your bulk waste, don’t forget to give them a ring on the dates mentioned above based on which area you’re located in.

Happy spring cleaning!
