Recently, the Selangor Red Giants (SRG) made history by becoming the 1st Malaysian team to be world champions in Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB), putting the Malaysian esports scene on the global map.

As congratulatory messages poured in for the team, including from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, 1 particular congratulatory message stood out from the rest but for all the wrong reasons.

Malaysians call out Selangor PAS Youth for their ‘narcissistic’ poster congratulating SRG

Going viral online, a poster by Selangor PAS Youth congratulating SRG for their win in the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2024 received the ire of netizens for putting more emphasis on PAS Youth leaders rather than the Mobile Legends team.

In the poster, the SRG team was put in the background in black-and-white, while photos of the 3 PAS Youth leaders were placed in the foreground in colour.

1 of the netizens who called out the Selangor PAS Youth for the poster was @mypolitiko on X (formerly Twitter), with the post going viral with over 245,000 views and 3,800 likes.

In the caption, @mypolitiko sarcastically said,

“I just learned that the MLBB Selangor Red Giants have 9 players. Worse, the players are in black-and-white, while the 3 leaders are put in colour ?”

The black-and-white photo made it look like they were mourning the team

In the replies, many Malaysians criticised Selangor PAS Youth for the ‘syok sendiri‘ poster and asserted that they should be making the congratulatory poster about SRG and not about them.

One commenter sarcastically asked whether the leaders in the poster have always been this narcissist.

Meanwhile, another commenter joked that the Selangor PAS Youth made the poster look as if the SRG team were dead with the black-and-white photo.
