Recently, former Prime Minister Dato Seri Ismail Sabri and former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin took an MRT for their journey back home after having dinner together at Jalan Alor, Kuala Lumpur.

“After hanging out and eating at Jalan Alor, I returned home by MRT, with Khairy Jamaluddin (KJ) from Jalan Alor to Semantan. Even though it’s 11pm, there are still many people using the MRT. It has become the main transportation,” Ismail Sabri wrote.

Now, everything was fine and dandy up until the point where Rapid KL’s customer support account posted a reminder for all public transport passengers to remain masked up while commuting.

Taking to both Ismail Sabri’s and Rapid KL’s post, netizens have since called for Rapid KL to reprimand the 2 politicians (and their entourage) as they were clearly seen to be mask-less while on board the train.

Mrt 1

“Rapid KL says that it’s MANDATORY to wear a face mask while on the bus or train. Those in this video aren’t even wearing face masks? Double standard!”

Mrt 2

“Are you not brave enough to scold them, Rapid KL?”

Mrt 3

“If the former PM and former Minister are not wearing (face masks), then we are not wearing them either. Fair and impartial.”

Mrt 4

“Is the rule of wearing (face masks) only for regular folks? Politicians no need?”

Mrt 5

“Selective prosecution? Why no action against Khairy Jamaluddin and Ismail Sabri? Why, why? Do you think Malaysia belongs to their fathers?”

Mrt 6

“Their talk is not the same as their actions. Politicians have even made a video where they were not wearing masks and you pretend to not know.”

Mrt 7

“WHY CAN THEY NOT WEAR MASKS IN THE TRAIN, IS THIS INDEED DOUBLE STANDARDS?”

“Then call them out la. Make them apologise. Not to mention he (KJ) was the one who made the mask mandate but isn’t wearing one.”

What do you think? Should the politicians be reprimanded for not wearing face masks in the MRT?

Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
