A mother and father were left horrified after what was supposed to be a joyful occasion turned into a literal nightmare.

Taking to her Facebook page, Nurul Huda Zulkhairi shared how her son almost died during his birthday celebration due to a balloon!

They initially thought it was an asthma attack

After describing the lively birthday celebration they were having for their son, she explained how the merriment died down quickly due to her son’s sudden emergency.

She wrote, “Before the incident, my sister-in-law informed my husband that ‘Uwais (the birthday boy) is wheezing.’ My husband responded that he’ll get the inhaler we have on standby since Uwais has had asthma attacks before.”

“Suddenly, the situation became tense when my brother-in-law came running towards my husband while carrying my son, who was turning blue. His heart had stopped. My husband and his friend conducted a few procedures. They thought my son might have choked on food. But, after trying CPR and using another technique, I don’t remember what it’s called, they failed to get any food out.”

Something is stuck in his throat, but it isn’t food!

In that moment, they decided to rush the boy to a hospital, considering how blue the boy was turning.

During the journey, Nurul Huda’s husband continued to perform CPR on their son until he reached the hands of doctors. At the hospital, they discovered a balloon was stuck in Uwais’ throat.

“When they wanted to do the intubation process, they saw that there was a balloon in my son’s breathing channel. The doctor quickly removed the balloon and continued to perform CPR. Thank God, my son got his life back,”

“Thank you to the ED team at Hospital Kulim, who attended to my son so quickly. Thank you also to the PICU team at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, who treated Uwais so meticulously.”

“Everything happened so fast. Apparently, Uwais was joking around with his best friend; he placed a balloon in his mouth while running around and perhaps from there, my son choked and suffocated,” she explained.

Nurul Huda ended her post by warning all parents to be more careful with their children, as even small things like balloons can cause big disasters.

“Because of a balloon, I almost lost my child.”
