A 9-year-old girl died after she was allegedly believed to have been abused by her stepfather at a house in Kota Laksamana, Melaka, on Monday morning (23 June).

According to a report by Sinar Harian, sources revealed that the incident that happened to the girl came to light after the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) received a call from a private hospital at around 9:45am.

Abuse 1

“It is understood that the hospital informed that there were suspected signs of abuse, after the victim was sent by her stepfather to seek treatment at the medical centre,”

“What’s more heartbreaking is that examinations found that the victim had a broken leg, and bruises on her head and body,” the source said.

The girl, who was allegedly in serious condition when she arrived at the hospital, is believed to have died while receiving treatment at the hospital’s emergency ward.

A neighbour speaks out

In another report by Sinar Harian, the girl’s neighbour revealed their shock upon discovering that the girl had passed away, as he had not seen or heard anything suspicious.

“I didn’t even hear any fighting, and then the girl died. I am really shocked,” he said, adding that he had seen the girl just last week and only knew of her death upon seeing police cars in front of her house.

Do stay tuned for more updates.
