Previously, we shared the unique tradition of a Malaysian family of holding a ‘Duit Raya Jackpot’ each Hari Raya Aidilfitri when the whole extended family gathered.
Well, another unique twist to the giving of green money packets or Ang Pow tradition on Hari Raya has just gone viral recently, catching the attention of Malaysians on TikTok.
Duit Raya ❌ Hot Wheels Raya ✅
In 2 posts by TikTok user @sxribubulan, he shared how rather than giving out green ang pow packets to guests visiting during Hari Raya, a Malaysian scale model car collector gave out Hot Wheels instead!
As of the time of writing, the 1st TikTok post has garnered over 1.5 million views and more than 167,500 likes in just over 1 day.
Meanwhile, the 2nd TikTok post is just a continuation of the 1st post, showing what Hot Wheels models the women guests received from the scale model car collector.
In both videos, a group of friends can be seen standing around the house’s foyer as the man in red Baju Melayu, presumably the host of the Hari Raya open house, goes around and distributes Hot Wheels models still sealed inside their packages.
Each guest received 1 Hot Wheels of varying car models each, with all of them excitedly receiving the scale model cars from the gracious host.
The guests then excitedly turned to the camera to show what Hot Wheels model they received.

Malaysians want to go Raya at homes of other collectors to get collectable items too
In the video’s comments section, many Malaysians were amused by the guests receiving ‘Hot Wheels Raya’ instead of Duit Raya and found that the scale model cars make for a memorable experience rather than the common money packets.
Several commenters joked that they would find other collectors’ homes to visit during this Aidilfitri festive season so that they can get collector items too such as Shoei helmets, Gundams and more.
Meanwhile, another commenter joked that should he have known that you could replace Duit Raya with collectables, he would’ve given away the Funko Pops he collected as ‘Funko Pop Raya’.
Coincidentally, another Malaysian asserted just a few rows below the comment that he wanted to search for a Funko Pop collector to go visit during Hari Raya. Well, time to slide into the other commenter’s DMs then!
Besides that, a few commenter asked what did the women guests receive from the host, to which @sxribubulan shared the 2nd video showing them receiving Hot Wheels too below:
