One of the most enjoyable parts of fasting during Ramadan is getting the chance to have iftar, known as the fast-breaking evening meal, with people who mean the most to you. Oddly enough, one Malaysian decided to break his fast with a very special person in his life – or should we say, animal.

A handler at a crocodile enclosure in Selayang with the TikTok account @bedamau has been making waves online after he spent a casual and relaxed evening breaking fast with a crocodile from the sanctuary he works at. Yes, you read that correctly!

In the clip, the keeper, whose name is Rizal, laid out what seemed to be a picnic mat in the enclosure. Taking his shoes off and sitting on the mat, Rizal opened packet of food in front of him that resembled an omelette sandwich, otherwise known as Roti John, alongside a jug that contained a cold drink.

Just inches away from Rizal, however, sat a crocodile that was bobbing in the water, as it stared at a bowl of raw fish located to the left of his keeper. With its mouth agape, the crocodile looked more than ready to eat.

At the beginning of the video, Rizal sat patiently next to the animal, reciting some prayers before pouring a drink for himself from the jug. After downing the refreshment, Rizal, calm and collected, picked up a piece of fish before tossing it into the crocodile’s mouth. Snapping his jaw shut immediately, the animal seemed to enjoy the piece, as Rizal further dug into his sandwich.

Going back and forth a few times, Rizal continued to take more bites of his sandwich while giving the crocodile a few slabs of fish at various intervals until the clip officially concluded.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Rizal said that he generated the idea to break fast with the crocodile, whose name is Lipis. Understanding concerns that may have been brought up by the public, Rizal added that he remained composed during the instance, revealing that there was a ladder nearby for him to escape the enclosure if the situation escalated.

While a number of people were shocked to see the display, the vast majority of commenters couldn’t help but make jests in relation to the situation, knowing that Rizal is a professional at his job.

“Oh brother, why didn’t you bring the animal to the Ramadan bazaar also?” wrote one user, while others said that Rizal’s interaction with Lipis reminded them of meals they had with their ex-partners.

While we’d hardly suggest that any person ever try to do this, we’re sure Lipis had the time of its life breaking fast with Rizal.
