The mobile phone is perhaps the 2nd closest thing to us aside from our partners. We take good care of our devices to prevent them from getting damaged, so to see them dropping on the ground is definitely a heartache. But what happens when your phone drops into someplace “boiling?”

Just yesterday (January 26), a fried chicken vendor, Zaiem, who is also the founder of Abey Ayam’s King in Paya Keladi, Penang shared a TikTok video which was supposed to be a video of him deep frying chicken. At the beginning of the video, Zaiem was explaining to his followers how he deep-fries chicken. To provide a better and clearer look, he moved his phone nearer to the boiling oil, and SPLASH!

His iPhone fell into the wok and was completely submerged in hot boiling oil. For a moment, we could get a good look at the POV of “being deep fried”.

He immediately “ladled” his phone back up. To his surprise (and many of us), the phone is still working as if nothing happened!

Zaiem then tried to use his front camera in the car, and everything looks good! According to the comment section, Zaiem is using iPhone 13 Pro, and while the device sustained no obvious damage, the speaker sounds a little different after the incident but is still usable.

1 in a million kind of iPhone review

His video has gained much attention on social media, and netizens couldn’t help but praise the phone, as well as make jokes about the situation.

“Now we know what the chicken feels when being deep-fried.”

“This is how it looks like being fried.”

“It’s not just waterproof, it’s also fry-proof.”

Another netizen joked and told Zaiem to at least coat his phone with flour before frying it.

“The rarest iPhone review.”

“This is what it feels like being deep fried.”

“It’s gonna be tough to clean the oil on the phone.”

“Thank goodness the iPhone didn’t become crunchy.”

We’re glad that Zaiem managed to retrieve his phone from the hot oil, despite sustaining minor damage to the speaker. We can’t imagine seeing our phone “diving” into a pot of boiling oil. Do tell us about your experience of dropping your phone in unexpected places!
