On 15 December a 22-year-old man was arrested after he admitted to burning and disposing the fetus his girlfriend had delivered at Pantai Sentral Park, Brickfields, reports Harian Metro.

The incident was discovered when his 22-year-old girlfriend was seeking medical attention at a local hospital for severe bleeding at around 7.30am that day.

Initial screening indicated that the woman had just given birth hence the unusual bleeding, but when questioned by the doctor, she claimed that she was unaware if she was pregnant and had given birth, causing the doctor to get suspicious.

The doctor then lodged a police report, and her boyfriend was then arrested and detained in Bangsar at 6.30pm after he admitted to throwing away the fetus and burning it before discarding it in a bush. The fetus was found in a semi-burnt state inside a plastic bag.

The fetus has since been transferred to the University of Malaya Medical Center (UMMC) for further investigation and treatment.
