From our nation’s economic stimulation to the mobility of its social progress, there’s one thing that keeps our country turning: workers! Without fail, Malaysia celebrates labourers as our backbone every 1 May in the form of Labour Day as a tribute to the contributions, rights, and dignity of workers. To that end, here’s what the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) and Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial (PERKESO) had in store:

KESUMA-PERKESO held the Karnival Hari Pekerja from 28 April to 1 May at Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil, culminating in the National Labour Day Celebration officiated by the Prime Minister.

There were many booths to check out during this special carnival, but the one that made us go, “We should’ve learned about all this work-related stuff earlier!” was the booth by PERKESO and MYFutureJobs! For most Malaysians, these two bodies are just familiar names, but everyone who has visited their carnival booth truly understands how important they are to our daily lives.

Here’s what went down at their booth:

There’s so much that Malaysians don’t know about PERKESO!

Think PERKESO only helps full-timers or large companies? Think again! As explained at their Karnival Hari Pekerja booth, PERKESO’s social security initiatives also provide coverage for self-employed workers, food delivery riders, micro businesses and even housewives!

However, the info that caught a lot of visitors’ attention was that work protection coverage encompasses all 24 hours of the day and not just work hours. Plus, visitors also learned that there is a broad criteria for workers who qualify for benefits such as training allowance, RM1,000 mobility assistance and Return to Work Allowance (EBSA).

They also informed that there is a RM30 daily training allowance raise, and Training Fees can now be claimed up to RM7,000. Looking to upskill or get a career change? Then this initiative is just for you!

PERKESO is also revolutionising job searches with the MYFutureJobs app!

To add to the digitalisation initiative for our country’s labour system, PERKESO has launched the MYFutureJobs mobile app! With its automated job-matching system, simple interface and real-time job alerts, here’s what makes this app so nifty:

  • Job searches can be set based on location, interests, and field of expertise
  • You can receive AI-assisted job matches based on your qualifications
  • Users can register and apply for jobs through the app without needing a physical CV

From uni students in search of industrial training to experienced workers looking for undiscovered job opportunities, this app is every jobseeker’s dream come true!

Download the app now on the App Store or Google Play if you’re looking to get a career upgrade.
