As much as we hate to admit it, PTPTN has been reliable in providing loans to students that needed it. Not to mention how easy it is to have an application approved. As such, it wasn’t a surprise when some may have taken advantage of it.

Jangan kacang lupakan kulit ye.

For one Apple Tan Qian Jing, her negligence became the talk of the (netizen) town.

Malaysian Girl Flaunts Her Luxury Despite Not Having Her Ptptn Loan Paid In Full - World Of Buzz

As part of the ‘Red People’ and considered a mini celebrity, her Facebook page has garnered over 331k likes, and her Instagram has over 260k followers. She soon found out there is a price to pay for having said fame.

She went onto her Facebook page to describe her little run in at the airport, with her first line stating:

Have you paid back your PTPTN loan (in full)? If not, you’d better pay up soon! Otherwise, you won’t be able to leave the country.

She continued to describe that she wasn’t aware of it as there were no follow-up nor notification by the relevant authorities. It’s been ages since I left college but I’m pretty sure that I’ve heard tons of reminders on the news regarding paying up or you’d be barred from leaving the country.

Seems like a harmless issue at first, until netizens rally to express their sentiments of her negligence.

“Missy, if you have nothing to do then you should read more news. Don’t only look at your FB and Instagram. And you as the loan applicant should be the one following up rather than them approaching you”

Her lavish lifestyle didn’t help ease the tension either. Netizens went through her previous posts to add fuel to the flame:

Commented the netizens:

“But could not afford the brand PTPTN”

“You could buy Chanel (bag) yet you can’t pay back (PTPTN), you must’ve used the government’s money a little to get that”

Learning of the negative remarks slowly scattered onto her online posts, she immediately issued an apology statement:

Firstly, thank you for paying attention on this topic. I apologize to the public for the way I expressed myself. But I hope you guys understand that my intention was good. I hope that everyone would pay up their loan to avoid facing the same problem. Besides, I have settled part of my loan and clear the balance. It was my fault for not handling it earlier. I hope u guys don’t repeat my mistake. I wanted to say sorry. This issue (loan) has been settled. Thanks to those who gave me positive message and those who corrected my mistake.

So give her a break lah guys. We are humans after all.

In any case, be sure to be mindful of your financial status. Translation: pay up your PTPTN loan secepat mungkin hor.
